What is the GAT?
There are two main types of GAT under NTS in Pakistan:
- GAT-General (GAT-G): For admission into MS/MPhil/Graduate programs (minimum 16 years of education).
- GAT-Subject (GAT-S): For PhD or advanced/research-based admissions (minimum 18 years of education).
The score is valid for two years in both cases. - β
How to apply ?
Here are the general steps to apply for the GAT-General (the process for GAT-Subject is very similar).
Go to the NTS online registration portal: https://portal.nts.org.pk/ NTS+2Ilmkidunya+2
If youβre a new user, register/create an account.
Login and fill in your profile: personal info, academic info, employment (if any).
Upload a recent full-face photograph as required.
Select the desired test (GAT-General or GAT-Subject) and choose your preferred test city.
Download the bank deposit slip from the portal.
Pay the test fee via the banks/online channels. For example:
For GAT-General the fees mentioned are Rs 1,810 and late fee Rs 2,510.
For GAT-Subject the fees are Rs 2,210 and late fee Rs 3,010.
After payment, youβll get your roll number slip (which you must print) and attend on test day.
On the day of the test bring the roll-slip and original CNIC/card as specified. (Often mobile phones are not allowed in test centers).
π When is GAT conducted?
Here are some recent schedules for 2025 (for Pakistan).
GAT-General: For example, the GAT-G-VII test was scheduled for Saturday, 4 October 2025.
GAT-Subject: For example, GAT-SUB-V was scheduled for Saturday, 4 October 2025. - NEXT DATE: Next date to apply for GAT Exam is 16 November 2025. Test will be conducted on 29 November 2025 (sunday).
Important: Deadlines apply for registration, and late-fee windows too. Always check the specific advertisement on the NTS portal for the series you wish to apply for.
